Last thursday we had the pleasure of having a case study provided by ExxonMobil. With a presentation about the many facets of their company, the students gained insight into the workings of the company and the large portfolio of projects which ExxonMobil participates in.The focus of the presentation was on the many different projects and facilities operating in the port of Rotterdam, and how these have been shaped by the need for carbon capture and strict emission regulations. The case study provided by ExxonMobil and led by Assia A., Bram Vanden Abbeele and Pieter Kingma gave student a watered down view of the operation of a distillation plant and the economics behind it. Split into 4 groups the challenge was set and the time passed by rather quickly! After the case study we shared drinks and pizza enabling the students to ask more personal questions regarding work life, working at Exxon and internship possibilities. A good ending to a great afternoon! We would like to thank Pieter for helping in the organisation of the event, as well as in the guidance during the case study together with Assia and Bram. Are you or is your company interested in organising an event together with our students, email us at: extern-prescottjoule-ME@tudelft.nlKind regards,Dispuut Prescott Joule,Carine Leijn, ChairwomanJob Lammers, TreasurerDouwe Huizer, External AffairsJonas Vos, EducationDoruk Kural, Events & PromoHarsh*t Sabharwal, Study Tour

Last Wednesday we had the pleasure of having Witteveen+Bos for our yearly company dinner, represented by Laurens Koers and TU Delft alumni Gijs Havelaar. Besides the pleasure of their company they shared insights into the life of an engineer at Witteveen+Bos, as well as what awaits us after we graduate. 32 students attended, each firing away questions which Gijs and Laurens were all too happy to answer. After a delicious three course meal at café de V, those eager to have a one on one stayed to have their remaining questions answered and receive valuable advice on work-life balance and career. We would like to thank Mathijs Hansen, for the organisation on part of Witteveen+Bos, and Gijs and Laurens for their time and insight! If you would like your company to be present at next years event, please feel free to email us at extern-prescottjoule-ME@tudelft.nlKind regards,Dispuut Prescott Joule,Carine Leijn, ChairwomanJob Lammers, TreasurerDouwe Huizer, External AffairsJonas Vos, EducationDoruk Kural, Events & PromoHarsh*t Sabharwal, Study Tour

On Friday the 15th of March we went on an excursion to visit the Wabico biogas plant of HoSt Group - Bioenergy Systems in Waalwijk. After a bus drive of an hour, we were greeted by Vincent K. and Alex de Jong who gave us a tour of the biogas plant. They explained the process of biogas production and all the components involved. It was interesting to see how a process plant looks in real life and see connection between the theoretical knowledge and the industry.Thank you for having us and we look forward to organizing more events together in the future. Thursday the 15th of February we hosted our first lunch lecture of the year! The guest lecturers were Niraj Ravindra Kunkulol and our very own alumni Alex de Jong. They represented HoSt Group - Bioenergy Systems (host.nl), providing the students with insights into the multifaceted workings of HoSt group, as well as its subsidiaries. The overlap between the study track and the company's focus was immediately apparent, as well as the diversity of projects in the field. We want to thank Niraj and Alex for the presentation as well as their valuable insights into the life of an engineer at Host. We would also like to thank Host for their partnership and are looking forward to our excursion to their green energy plant in Waalwijk!Kind regards, Dispuut Prescott Joule,Carine Leijn, ChairwomanJob Lammers, TreasurerDouwe Huizer, External AffairsJonas Vos, EducationDoruk Kural, Events & PromoHarsh*t Sabharwal, Study Tour#Engineering #Partnership #Education #HoStGroup #Bioenergy #RenewableEnergy
