Do I need to book an appointment with the Apple Store? ›

While it is not required, you take a chance with a walk in. Many times Apple stores are extremely busy places, and those with appointments will get preference over a walk in. You can look up the store you wish to go to at the Apple web site and book the appointment online.

The Genius Bar allows for a very limited number of walk-ins each day, and if you arrive without an appointment, you might need to wait quite a while to be seen — or turned away entirely. Instead, the best place to start is on the Apple Genius Bar website, where you can describe your issue.

The best times to stop by the Apple Store for a walk-in are probably 3pm or 4pm, since most people are still in the middle of their workday at that point. Stopping in around 7pm or later is also probably a good idea if you don't want to wait.

Apple is now requiring that all users booking a Genius Bar appointment online sign in with an Apple ID. Previously, users could instead fill out a form with name, address and email in order to book an appointment.
