One big advantage to Rosewood is you can travel to the farmland to the north on your way to another town, basically getting all the farming equipment you need to start an urban farm even in Louiseville.

Another thing noteworthy about Rosewood is that in the woods to the Northeast of the town there's a cabin with an Antique Oven in it. The oven doesn't use electricity and can operate indoors without risk of spreading fire. It's basically the benefit of a campfire inside your base without the risk of burning your base down

Rosewood rocks for beginners and experienced players alike. Newer players have an abundance of good places to make into their home, while experienced players will be able to collect what they want quickly from the emergency services buildings, then get themselves a working car to drive elsewhere with a very good head start on good loot

Rosewood is the best spawn in the game right now. I dont get why you keep saying it is a low loot area. The police station+fire station gives you all the weapons you could want for any build, theres also a doctor office in the main stree with even more medical supplays, you can get books from the school and there a bunch stores in the main stree. Rosewood has everything you need early game, is almost to easy.

Something that people seem to miss is that there is a couple of warehouses both north and east of RW that have a lot of loot in them. Not to mention March Ridge.

Rosewood is possibly the only city where you can spawn and have multiple Fire Axes within 2-3 minutes of running without any fighting. Best spawn I got was 5 red axes, 2 sledge and 3 small axes and 2 crowbars

Rosewood Prison is >almost< the only prison. One of the Louisville Police Stations has a small prison block attached. It also says so on the station's sign.

I usually hit up the fire department into the police station on the first day for some early weapons armor and tools then pick a base. Provided that I have the time left before I pass out tired I'll run to the grocery store and put all the perishables in the freezer and grab a few carpentry books. From there it's a matter of balancing needs and urgency

I usually spawn in Muldraugh. When I first moved to Rosewood, I was like, man this town is so small. Didn't really feel the need to establish long-term bases there.

A thing to note about Rosewood which may be important for some playstyles - woods are completely infested with zombies due to proximity of prison. Another thing of note - plenty of houses in the town have garages and sheds, which have pretty decent chance of spawning a generator. Another good thing to note - gated community, shopping district, repair shop and gas station are all within short walking distance. Shopping district buildings are two story buildings - top floor is residential and has single staircase as entrance - making it quite good as a potential base. Gated community is amazing - very, very easy to wall off, with only two entrances - blocking them gives you immediate and safe access to 3 big houses for all your base needs. There are some secluded houses in the woods, south at the edge of town - IF you clear the forest around, they make for a pretty decent base location.

A good place to fortify is also the firewatchstation. It's pretty easy to build up walls from the building to the fences on both sides, you can easy barricade the doors and windows and use ropes to climb in or out or use the garage for entry. Once the wall is build you have a huge green area where you can safely grow plants and food.

Firefighter gear is basically the best vanilla gear in the game for protection of the areas it covers, with I think the exception of the helmet. Only downside to the jacket and pants is they can't be repaired, similar to bulletproof vests, crowbars and a few other items. I'd say if you spawn rosewood you should absolutely aim to clear the fire station early on and get a jacket & pants

It's worth noting that you can reach both the Doe Valley area with its farming supplies, as well as the Military Surplus Store, without any issues and in a small amount of time.

There are two small Army outposts near Rosewood that usually have gear. One is walkable to the south across the farm fields, the other one is straight out of town on the main road past the gas station and countryside. Those outposts also have food and coffee.

Nobody ever talks about those two little secluded houses at the very south end of town that you have to go down a little road to get to. Am I the only one that uses that as a base? There's tons of trees and few zombies that you can easily clear out. If you want to build your carpentry you can clear out the zombies and chop away at the trees to your heart's content. You can usually find everything you need for carpentry either right there or in the tool sheds of the houses just north of the house. If all else fails just take a day trip to the fire station to get what you need.

The left one has been my go to base from the start. The road above is straight with no houses, it's like a walking 2x Speed highway. You can also chop down a dozen trees below to gain access to the dirt road that'll lead you straight out of town

I think an important point to mention is the fact that March Ridge is right down the road from Rosewood. Anything Rosewood doesn't have loot wise odds are March Ridge does.

March Ridge is pretty ass tho, in my opinion, especially when you get to peak spawn days. Just a lot of zombies in a large residential area with not a lot of good loot.

There's an armoury in the second floor of the small building outside the prison, probably the best loot from the prison and very easy to access. Just outside of Rosewood, there are several barracks around, best traveling with car, but could easily be done by foot, good for a chance for early military gear.

the construction site is my favorite spot to base in rosewood. just one car against the gate and you have a safe place to sleep after clearing the minimal amount of zombies that spawn inside.

Rosewood has a dope lumberyard that's close by spawn with tons of log spawns so you won't need an axe, the firehouse and police station right next to eachother. The gated house community on the west side of city has a wall that only has two entrances so you can cap it and live quietly in there like a Mini Alexandria.

yes, but the outskirts (near the junkyard) i figured out has a lot more zeds than the town, i had to use 2 molotovs on a crowd, and then another one on a crowd, depends on what settings you play, i played with half of the default population, so in the default there might be more

Louisville has a fairly big jail connected to the police station so yeah only big prison in Rosewood but similar to be found elsewhere. Rosewood is definitely my go to.

That construction site is dangerous tbh. even if you block the entrance with a car, that whole area is still counted as outside world so even on the far side of the sandy area can spawn hordes. happened to me before, no breaches, it just spawned. it caught me off guard since I always like to place my weapons on a table when im chilling.

the south gas station also has 8 pumps, so you can last for ages, and the north pumps has an above station living area so you can base there quite easily (My current base in MP is there

I honestly only pick rosewood. That cop shop next to the fire station is *such* a game changer. I usually end up fortifying the cop shop and sleeping in the security room. (Small room by the two locker rooms) as its a two door one way entrance. I car block the main doors and double barricade the lobby windows and the lower office windows. Then build a impenetrable crate fence across the parking lot from the building leaving a small hole for the vehicles and leaving one vehicle as its doorway/gate. Why transport all those guns out when you can make where the guns are your new home. Worried about all that wood, the firestation not 100 meters below has axes up the @$$ and meds. Its down rightthe best spawn imo

I think rosewood is good for beginners like literally in the start of the game you can pick up lumberjack as your profession and get traits that buffs axes and long blunts then after spawn go to the fire station to get axes (i think you'll be able to get 2 or more axes there) then boom you'll be OP as hell and if you think you can't handle the zombie in the firestation at the start you can easily lure them on the bottom side of the station where you can easily get rid of the zombies by jumping off the wood fence. And if you wanted to you can also make the fire station as your base.

rosewood is easy to loot all the stores in a week or two and have enough food to freeze for probably years. the only thing missing from rosewood is a lake to fish and a tool warehouse

So after I learned how to play the game a bit and started actual playthrough, chose Engineer (I wanted to roleplay as myself) spawned in Police station which was empty. I thought I won lottery. Got inspired by video I saw of making fire station a base so I decided to clear it the second day. After barricading upstairs and garage of fire station for myself I went for looting spree, first f*cking house behind the fire station had alarm. Now the whole town is filled with zombies and its only normal population lol. Last I checked there were dozens of zombies just wandering in front of fire station. Far more in the town centre.

My current PZ run is going on 3 months starting in Rosewood. Set up in the fire station and have cleared the town entirely. Nearly 2k kills and have started loot runs to March Ridge in order to store more food for the incoming winter.

that gated community in rosewood is pretty op two cars will seal of a house permantly to zombies, and if your lucky with loot you can find generators and farming equipment in the garages along with planks and trashbags for rain collectors. can make you near enough self sufficent in about 3 in game days.

while ive not tried it myself, think putting a smaller fence in-front of your logs might sort that problem for you as ive never seen a crawler climb over a small fence though im not 100% on that.

The Rosewood School is an excellent day 1 location to loot, and is extremely underrated as a stronghold. It has school bags aplenty, and the cafeteria and locker lunchboxes have food to live off of for a day or two. It's relatively free from street visibility, put a pair of sheets each over the doors leading outside and to the cafeteria, the windows inside the library, and the kitchen windows looking into the cafeteria, and you'll almost never be spotted from outside. There's a staff room with a couch for sleeping off to the side. The bathrooms are centralized, largely separated from vision from outside, and with a sledge you can turn them and the nearby storage room into a giant living space with three exits. The school yard south is nearly entirely high-fenced in and easily fortified with carpentry, plenty of room for farming. The kitchen has two fridges, the nurse room has med supplies, the locked storage room outside usually has a generator. You'll never run out of mags and books to read. Ton of furniture to disassemble, and a ton of water sources. It's reasonable distance from town and easy to divert hordes, and it's surrounded by lootable houses and harvestable trees. Stick a generator between the double windows for the classroom next to the kitchen and it'll cover the kitchen, bathrooms, and staff room.

@@InternetHydra until the 42 build drops, you got to store all meat from the city in them if you want to have steak sauted with fresh vegetables well a few months into the survival. Canned food runs out too fast if you just feed on cans instead cooking. If you can save that time you don't have to move for food and water, with the resources pressent you can make a glorious base to be ready for the future

did they change the military facility recently? as whenever ive gone there it was sh*t for loot, just a few medical supplies, maybe 1 or 2 boxes of handgun ammo from the front counter, and lots of military clothing and backpacks, no guns. I dont bother going there anymore, too far, too dangerous, and if you dont go there within like the first couple weeks the paths into the forest will become blocked with trees and bushes, making travel even more difficult, better off going to the LV camp, atleast until they add in the undground portion of the facility, which more than likely will come when the eventually add basem*nts (which they hinted at in a thursdoid). If you're into adding modded towns, go for fort redstone or raven creek, both are close to eachother and are found by heading west along the highway north of town that links it with muldraugh

i think the question should be is Rosewood an easier place to spawn and my answer would be yes, it has most of the essentials that will start you going for month+ long runs but even with zombie respawn with its small area you begin to feel as if its just you in the town after a while so i would say if you master rosewood to move onto harder areas like westpoint also westpoint has a basically guaranteed car battery charger that becomes pretty necessary late game (6 months in)

The diner in Rosewood has a flat roof and a second floor, making it a cost-effective choice to knock out the stairs. You can have sheetropes inside and outside the building. You can put a farm, generator, and water barrels on the roof, and it comes with a bathroom, bed, and TV.

The jail is way easier to hit then you think. Its a straight shot in a car and the winding security fence confuses the zombies so you only really need to kill a dozen or so. Once you get to the correct part of the jail (driving around it is quicker and easier then going through the jail) there is only one window you need to break then you go up one set of strairs and boom, i play on normal loot spawns and i let the lot with several thousand rounds of ammo and a few great guns. It was such a good haul that the police station felt like an insult.

Have spawned towns and cleared/looted it out entirely. Rosewood has by far the best loot as long as your willing to loot everything. Yeah there isn't a warehouse, but the majority of houses have garage so as long as you loot all garages you will get loot on par/slightly less than a warehouse. The town has the best gun/ammo spawns as long as your willing to loot the prison, and looting it is trivial as long as you have a working car that can pull a sirened car to the back of the prison, wait 10 minutes, then loot the armory thats in the front of the prison + towers. There is two book spawns in a store/school so books are fine. For food there is 4/5 restruants + a grocery store so you will be fine. Lumberjack mains get a fire station for axes off the get go, veterans/police officers get the police station for guns off the get go. To top it all off, the majority of houses are two stories that have more food/tools/clothes/gun spawns than normal so your fine on general loot. And the police station/fire station/grocery store are easily fortified. Its by far the best spawn as long as you're willing to play it right

I don’t get that dead end road above the main strip in rosewood. I drove up once there were about a hundred zombies on it and leads to no where and it’s hard to maneuver being it’s so tight and near the trees be careful

I don't know if this is the experience of everyone else, but I find that there are lots more zombies in the surrounding countryside than there are in Rosewood itself. I can pretty much clear the town in a few days, but it probably takes me twice as long to clear out the massive hordes of undead roaming around in the fields.

The resedential houses arent that bad. They are big and hold lots of loot and most houses if not almost all have garage doors for generators/nails/tools. If you have 3 fire axes from the fire station you can smack open all garagedoors and have find like 6 generators.... This town is very good. It also hold my top spot because my first ever good run started there and I build a cool base in the fire station...

Whoah when did the military research facility get large gun lockers + military crates? That just makes it even better holy hell. Rosewood really is the best spawn in the game - it has literally all of the building blocks for success. The copious amount of garages makes it easy to find tools/weapons, the abundance of rich homes makes it easy to find bags/scarves, 2 major book spawns that are not difficult to clear, plus it's so easy to get a fire axe and melee your way to the police station doors and the armory in the prison (you usually only have to kill about 50-100 if you're smart about it). Also, backpack should always be number 1 list of loot priorities for fresh game. Any spawn location that puts you in close proximity to the best bags (military backpacks) is well worth it. Rosewood is able to 100% catapult you into late game. It's such a good place to build up skills quickly and make every other town far easier to deal with.

Honestly chief, aside from getting a Sledgehammer/Gunstore. The place is perfect. The short size is really what helps it since for new players, they can survive a lot easier and deal with generally less spawns. And even for experienced players, you can be prepared a lot quicker since everything is only a distance away. Even getting a car and gas is easy. And even the loot is plentiful. You can't be armed to the teeth from robbing a Gunstore, but at the same time you have everything else. From cars, Police Station guns, books, etc. Even a bar to get molotovs from.

You smoking, the fire station can spawns multiple fire axes and can spawn a firetruck outside, the fire station can spawn a machete and crowbar, firefighter clothes and military boots as well, also there is a police station that has guns and ammo and in the big houses you might find a big hiking backpack, the schools has a good amount of books, there's a bookstore, almost every house has a shed, then there's the military base which you can get the best backpacks in the whole game at the start if your good enough and prepared, you could easily drive to the doe valley army surplus store and get a lot of guns and ammo and maybe find a large backpack or hiking backpack and military vest, also at the police at or on zombies they can spawn a police vest, firefighter gear is on firefighter zombies, there is a gigamart and there's medical supply's in the school and medical center, you can find a crowbar in the back of the gigamart, the gated community is the safest and easily place to make base, and requires very little fortifications to secure, you could easily wall of the whole gated community, there are like 30 vehicles in rosewood that you could find, also you forgot to mention there vehicles can spawn in the prison and military base area, there are 7 propane tanks you can get in and near rosewood and there's an antique stove nearby, and there's a lake you could live next to and fish, there are literally two gas stations there, one south and one north of rosewood, there is a car repair shop, and very little zombies spawn in rosewood

I played for a while on low pop, got too comfortable and died. Survived for 3 months and thought I was ready. Normal pop is doable. Got a scratch from a zombie, but I think I’m okay for the most part.

Following up on my Muldraugh post, I genuinely don't understand the hype people have for Rosewood. The way you have to play here feels very limited. There's not much variety to enjoy here. You either base up at the gated community, or at the fire station. There's nothing in between. The amount of loot that exists here is also in shorter supply. There's not much in the way of warehouses so you're not going to be able to find a lot of building materials and especially sledgehammers. The benefits of rosewood are that its small and therefore less zombies. It's a great place for beginners to start, but once you become more experienced, the place becomes rather stale, at least in my opinion. There's not much to explore, and as you mentioned, it's far off from all the other locations on the map that are good for looting. Having tried starting here a few times and not really enjoying the experience at all, I don't think I'd spend too much time here again besides to burn it down with a bunch of molotovs lmao

Huh, honestly it just seems like only builders and very stay at home kind of players seem to suffer. I am not too sure what constitutes an experienced player, but I still think they can do quite well. Mainly in that, you can get a car super quick, get molotovs, some guns and gas. And this is without Burglar. Like I managed to do all of this in a span of a day and get to Louisville in 2-3 prepared. And if you really wanna stretch it. It even includes things like March Ridge, warehouses and the military base a good bit away that has seeds, tools, Sledgehammers, supplies and even more guns.

You can easily and mostly safely loot all the stores week one can't really say that about maldraugh and west point. the only thing rosewood is really missing is a lake/river and a tool warehouse besides that it's golden.

Rosewood is the best! The armory of the PD is huge, and the fire department is right across the street. The population of zombies is acceptable, there's no better spawn location than Rosewood!

The prison has plenty of zombies but the armory is in the building that's close to the entrance so and it has plenty of guns. Would still recommend to get a shotgun from the police station first as there is at least a hundred zombies you'll have to kill. (Shotgun will draw more but its better to draw the zeds out the fight a few less but in melee and inside the building) As for the military base, getting there is a pain and from what ive seen there were like 2 gun lockers. The military backpacks were more usefull then the guns i found there. But i didn't explore the whole base only like half so maybe i'm an idiot and i missed the room full of guns

I found that room in debug mode so i could walk through walls so either they updated the base or maybe that room is inaccessible without cheats but i don’t know why they would make it like that so i’m going to assume they updated it

@@spoodle I think it might have been updated at some point. the map online shows the room to only have one locker and I do remember the first time going and only finding a few pistols in the locker. Now its a whole giant room with, as it should, plenty of guns and ammo.

I found it completely by accident my first trip there. It is blocked by a row of counters (you need to disassemble one) near the rear entrance of the base.

If you're on multiplayer, do everyone a favor and stop spawning here. You make the server boring for everyone else because nobody ever goes there once they initially leave that place. Meaning you just take up a server slot and nobody will ever find you. The ONLY thing that crappy town has going for it is a firestation and a police station. Worst spawn in the game IMO. Its also so far out of the way that its just obnoxious to go to and from. Everything you can find in Rosewood you can easily find somewhere else+ more Riverside is the best, its close to LV and that town has literally everything you'd ever need. Library, Gigamart, Hardware store, police station, gas station, VHS Store, pharmacy, car scrap yard, post office, sports store, another book store, gated community, bait and tackle shop, near a river for easy water and meat, and the list goes on, there isn't a single thing you can't find in Riverside. Ontop of this the zombie population there is very easy to manage. Firefighter gear is overrated, 1. it slows you down 2. It cant be repaired 3. Its extremely hot. 4. The protection isn't even that good. A high level tailor can pretty much make any piece of clothing better than firefighter clothing without the drawbacks, tailoring isn't even hard to level either you just need the books. With the right clothing setup you can be 100% scratch proof and like 90% bite proof on all parts of the body, plus you can even get majority of your limbs besides the groin, legs and neck up to a wopping 50% bullet protection., with a maximum of 10% on the hands, 30% on the neck and 30% on the groin and 20% on the legs. If you don't like wearing bullet proof vests you can get your torso up to 70% bullet proof without wearing one aswell with tailoring.

Rosewood is great for beginners, but the town is terrible for loot. IMO, this town is garbage, and is only meant for a quick smash and grab. Very Small amount of residential, very low amount of skill books, no special buildings like post office, hardware store, farming supply and the military base is very far away (Although I will give a few points for the Drive-in). Your better off mentioning the farms/food warehouses to the east (sandbox settings determines that worth). This town isn't worth your time except for a quick snatch and grab.
